What do I need to know?

The best thing about Raro is you don't need a visa. All you need is a valid passport and a return ticket, but your passport needs to be valid for at least six months from your return date.

If you have a full license you're good to drive in Raro, you don't need to do anything - just remember to take your license. If you have anything less then a full or nothing at all, you'll have to sit your test at the local police station, it's $25 all up and it's pretty easy, so you'll be scootering around the island in no time.

Cash in Raro is all NZD so if you're coming from anywhere outside NZ, you'll have to change that money over before you touch down or you can get it swapped over in Raro.

About Rarotonga

Where we staying?

We're staying at the Edgewater Resort, Avarua Beach, and a few other family and friends are staying there too, this is where the wedding ceremony will be held. You're more than welcome to join us at the Edgewater but here are a few other places to stay nearby.  It's just over 30kms right around the island, so you'll never be too far away.

What's there to do?

We've been there a couple of times and the things we liked the most were swimming at the waterfall and standing at the end of the run way at the airport as planes come in to land. Sounds pretty funky but don't diss it till you try it, the planes are nowhere near you but when they fly over head it's pretty freaky.

Rarotonga is one of the best Pacific Islands, second only to Vava'u and Tongatapu, so if you want to find out more check out this website, it's got all the stuff you need to know about visiting their beautiful island.

Like other Pacific islands everything pretty much shuts down on Sunday. Some places are still open but it's just a mission so make sure you stock up on Saturday.

How we getting around?

You can walk everywhere if you're eager like that but most people on the island rock around on scooters. You can hire scooters, cars and vans from a number of places on the island. We're still trying to suss out which place will give us the best deal so if you've got the hook up let us know, or keep posted on the site and we'll let you know once we suss a place out.

There's also buses that go around the island; you can either catch the 'clockwise' or 'anti-clockwise', straight up that’s what the bus routes are called. They go around all day pretty much and will usually stop if you signal them.
